There is a mathematical method to create such 3 x 3 magic square.
Numbers 1 to 9 are in arithmetic series.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 may be put in sets [ 1, 5 , 9 ], [ 2, 5, 8 ], [ 3, 5, 7 ] and [ 4, 5, 6 ].
These sets may be derived by 1st, middle, 9th or 2nd, middle , 8th and so on.
From it is obvious that middle sq has number 5. from second set put number in one of the diagonal.
After this it is easy to adjust other sets.
There is an another method, which is easy.
Draw on each of the 4 sides an extra square in the middle.
Start from any such sq , going diagonally write down numbers 1, 2 and 3.
Now move to next diagonal, starting near sq. of 1 write down numbers 4, 5 and 6 [ this diagonal is in magic sq.] similarly write down numbers 7, 8 and 9.
In magic sq. corner sq.s are covered. [ moving in clockwise, from bottom left they are 4, 2, 6 and 8 ]
To fill middle sq.s of magic sq. transfer numbers in opposite sq. in magic sq.
Top 3 is moved to bottom and 7 to top. Left and right side numbers 1 and 9 move to right and left sq.s
respectively.
Remove extra drawn 4 sq.s
Any Arithmetic series of nine numbers may be set in the magic sq.[ Difference between two nunbers may not be necessarily 1.]
Try for series 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19.
